Now that we’ve officially finished the current school year we are going to spend some time just enjoying items we are reviewing as they arrive. Right now we actually have a lot of items to review. Some are already here and we have been using them for a while, others are on their way to us. Not all of these are reviews for our journey with TOS Homeschool Crew, so I’ll break it down below. Click on title links to get a sneak peek at each item.
TOS Homeschool Crew Reviews:
Artistic Pursuits K-3 Book Three – We are already using this and you can see our sculptures made with soap in this post. We’ll be doing some painting with Gouache next.
Olde Style World Maps – These maps are from Homeschool in the Woods. My 8 year old loves them and decided all on her own to make an atlas of the United States. So far she’s finished 10 state maps.
Seasons of Faith books - From Children’s Bible Hour Ministry, this package just arrived. We have four books to review. They look neat and each includes an audio CD to listen along. Titles we received:
- Braving the Storm
- Race With Midnight
- You Can’t Come In
- Seventy Time Seven
Math Galaxy games – Downloaded from Galaxy of Education, we’ve been playing a few of these already. There are several above my children’s level as well.
Family Mint – A free website where kids can learn to save, spend, and track how they use money. I’ll review this one soon.
Balance Benders – A book by Critical Thinking Co. that has taken some time to use. We’re not logic-oriented, so this book takes work.
Tales from Terrestria books – I received book 1 and 4 in the series and hope to start reading them this week.
Super Star Speech books – I just received these this week. I have been excited ever since I saw this vendor on the list because we’ve got some speech issues left from my 5 year old’s throat surgery last year. These books look like a lot of fun!
BeeYoutiful samples – I am still not sure what is on the way from this vendor, some sort of nutritional supplement perhaps? I’ll let you know when the package arrives.
Rocket Phonics - Our long-term review and a product we love. Read my original review HERE.
“What Am I?” Reader – This follows up the Beehive Reader 1 from All About Spelling/All About Reading, and is not officially released yet, so I can’t give you a link. Read my review of the first book HERE. I just found out this one is on it’s way to me, so I’m excited to surprise my kids with it.
Other Review Items (not TOS related):
All-Day Charlotte Mason Seminar – This DVD set and workbook from Simply Charlotte Mason has been wonderful. I’m learning how to incorporate some of it into our current homeschool style and discovering it meshes pretty well.
Laying Down the Rails – This DVD workshop and book are all about habit training. I’m not giving anything away here, but let me say we’re using this! Another great product from Simply Charlotte Mason.
Never Say Never by Lisa Wingate – A fiction book to review from Bethany House. Sometimes it is nice to read something just for me, and this book was so good I read all 348 pages in one day! The review is coming very soon.
Homeschooling for the Rest of Us by Sonya Haskins – Also a book from Bethany House. I’ll be honest, I started the book early this week, got mildly offended at the author’s opinions, and haven’t finished it. I will read it, and hopefully by the end of the book I won’t be so annoyed with it.
Discover the Joy of Easter – The first of two items from Discover the Scriptures, I’m very excited to use this with my family as Easter approaches. We don’t celebrate the Easter Bunny in our family at all. We focus on our Savior’s Resurrection, so this looks like it will give us some great ideas for that.
Discover the Latter-Day Prophets – This is the second item from Discover the Scriptures, one that I asked to review. It covers latter-day prophets from Joseph Smith to Thomas S. Monson, telling stories about each man’s life and ministry. I’m very excited about this one!
Family Mission Statement Magnet – Coming from EngageFamily, we’re working on updating our family mission statement. They will then turn it into a magnet for our refrigerator. Even better, they’ll be offering a giveaway to one of my readers when I post my review!
Thicker Than Blood by C.J. Darlington – A Christian fiction novel by a homeschool graduate. This one is on it’s way, but from the website it looks super interesting. It is another read just for me. The author will be offering one copy as a giveaway here on the blog, so watch for that review and giveaway in the coming weeks!
Phew! If you read through all of that you are probably wondering how we’ll use all of it in our homeschool (besides the books for mom to read). Well, that is the topic for another post, so come back soon and find out my answer!

Thanks for the thoughts on the Simply Charlotte Mason materials. I've been looking at them for quite some time. I think I may have to add them to my "to buy" list soon.
