Week in Review #86–Just the Highlights

100_5113This is a picture of Daniel enjoying one of our toys. It is a word puzzle set from Melissa and Doug that we found on super-sale once. He is a determined little boy, he did every single word in the set (the boards are two-sided). He is thoroughly enjoying his All About Reading time, which is one of the products we are reviewing. That has been his favorite thing this week, even more than the gecko study he is doing with big brother.

Joseph and Emma have been doing algebra this week, not that they realize it. Remember those good old beginning problems like x+4=7? You had to figure out what number x stood for (3 in this example). I love Math U See’s approach, which in the Primer stage is totally hands on. Both have understood the concept well.

Joseph’s study of Goofy Geckos has nearly finished. I cannot say enough how much my son has loved all things gecko because of this unit. He has just a few pages left in Goofy Geckos, which he will probably finish up tonight or tomorrow.

Emma and Makayla’s unit is Creation Camouflage and Emma has lost interest in favor of art. Every time it wants her to draw something she is thrilled, and then she wanders off to draw for the next hour. Makayla decided to just forge ahead without Emma, so she has about 10 pages left to finish up the unit.

Oliver has been coloring a lot this week. Any time something comes out of the printer he asks to color. He has also been bringing me books all the time to read with him.

Caleb has been my little peanut this week. He’s been in my arms a good bit but there have been a few times where he lays happily on the floor and then drifts off to sleep right where he is at. Not that it is safe to leave him there with 5 older siblings running through the house!

I posted earlier about our Wednesday at Book Club, so I won’t repeat that. I also posted about our next unit study right here. We have two official weeks left to the school year. Eek! Now I’m off to write a few reviews! How has your week gone?

This is linked to the Weekly Wrap-Up.

PS> The links to the unit studies are affiliate links. Should you choose to buy a copy I will receive a small amount of the sale price, which blesses my homeschool budget. Thank you!

I love Melissa and Doug products! :) Too bad they're so expensive brand new, but hopefully I will find some second hand sometime.
