We’ve had illness in the house for a month now - they just love to share! It began with Daniel and Caleb - 1 pneumonia and 2 ear infections. Joseph has been sick for about 2.5 weeks and last week we saw the on-call doctor at our pediatrician’s office. She assured us he was fine. Sure, he was coughing non-stop and couldn’t breath, eat, sleep, or anything else, but he was just fine according to her.
Today I took Joseph, Emma, and Oliver in to the pediatrician. Two are coughing so much they throw up to clear out the congestion, the third is not a puker so she just coughs. We got to see our doctor today, thank heaven.
The diagnosis? Three more children with pneumonia. Of course. Three more sets of antibiotics and inhalers have been prescribed, so hopefully we’ll see some improvements by Christmas day. Why is it that some doctors ignore the mom’s experience and knowledge of her children and others don’t? I’m not exactly new at this, I don’t bring my kids in for every little cough, fever, or weird symptom. As a matter of fact I avoid doctors if possible. I’m confident enough after 6 children to tell when they’ve just got a mild cold that will pass and when they’re really sick.
All I want for Christmas is healthy children.
And maybe a little bit of sleep.
If I have to choose between the two
I’ll take healthy children.

Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
Oh that just stinks! It sounds like its going around there from what I've seen posted on facebook! With the meds things should clear up soon thank goodness!
I hope you get some rest soon too!!
Love ya

Praying that everyone is well very soon! I am blessed with a Dr. who trusts my judgement...but even with her I had to argue once last year when I took my son in with "THE" Flu. She didn't believe he had the flu, but he had an ear infection and tested positive for strep throat. I insisted on a flu test and sure enough, he tested positive for Type A influenza just as I suspected! Sometimes a mom really does know best!! As a mom of 6 as well, I know that we know our stuff, lol! Hope your Dr. has learned their lesson and will listen to you better next time...you can always remind them of this :)
Oh Tristan... praying for all of you... and waiting to hear an update on baby Mason, too.
Tristan!!! Im so sorry girl... Praying for babies and you!!! Ohh bless their hearts!! Drs can just ignore you simply because "they went to school" and we didn't..... lol however I am with my kiddos daily same as you and YOU KNOW WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG!!!!! I don't even take a Tylenol kindly!!!! lol...... Praying
Didn't you know that mothers of many are just irresponsible and don't know what they're talking about? Yuck! So sorry Tristan!!! I hope their illnesses clear up quickly and stay away for everyone's sake! It's terrible that you've had to watch them struggling to breathe. I hope there's a lot more rest happening at your place with the antibiotics going to work now :-) Praying for you!
Cherie - Funny funny girl! Some people do really think that though, among other things, which is sad. I am so grateful for modern medicine to help when illness just won't go away, now I just need to wait patiently for it to start helping.
I am so sorry. I hope you do have everyone well for Christmas.
Having sick kids at Christmas is no fun. This is our first year with no sick kids so far, but we all know how fast that changes when 4 (or more) start sharing germs. I pray the kids get better soon, and that none of the others get it too so you can get a bit of rest.
Tristian
We are praying for you and your family, we have had kiddos with Pneumonia and it is not fun, especially at Christmas time. Delsym cough medicine is a blessing with the cough and the only medicine I have found to help with the Pneumonia cough at all. Hope that helps a little. Have a blessed Christmas!
