I’ve finally succumbed to the virus the children have been sharing for over a month. Sadly it means I’m even more tired than I should be for 9 months pregnant, my head hurts, I’m coughing and congested, and faintly nauseated at the thought of food. Oh, and the coughing means I need to pee even more often due to a large baby pressing on an overworked bladder that has been pummeled by babies for 11 years. Ahem.
Thankfully my children are quite content to play together and enjoy their Christmas presents even longer. Makayla is working on sewing, the bigger boys have been playing the Lego games they got, Emma has been in artist heaven with her easel, Oliver plays golf or football, and Caleb is enjoying blocks and a soft baby hairbrush he found this morning.
What have I been doing? Brace yourself, the list may be overwhelming.
- I read my scriptures.
- I fed the children with my oldest’s help.
- Laundry has been washed and dried.
- I’ve laid on the couch and tried to play football and golf with Oliver. I’m getting better at football and he’s content to run after the ball when I miss a catch. Golf doesn’t work as well from a prone position on the couch.
- I’ve read books on my Kindle while laying on the couch. I love my Kindle. Right now I’m in the middle of reading Chasing China; A Daughter's Quest for Truth, Parenting with Love and Logic: Teaching Children Responsibility, and the ever-inspiring Pride and Prejudice.
- Snuggled various children while laying on the couch.
- I took a nap. Oh yes I did! Quiet time is a priceless part of our day for this very reason. Caleb and Oliver fell asleep right before 1:00pm. I turned on an audio book for the other children and slept for one glorious hour. It refreshed me enough that I’ve typed this post!
Trust me, the day has been more exhausting than it sounds. As a matter of fact, I’m so tired I think I need to go lay on the couch after another trip to the bathroom. Kindle here I come!
5 People Had Something to Say:
I love Pride and Prejudice!!! sorry you got sick too, I was hoping it'd just skip you. I hope you at least have a super speedy recovery.
Praying for you. Hope you start to feel better soon :)
I adore the Love & Logic techniques - I have a much happier house since I started using them! And I'm reading... "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" at the moment :)
Glad you are getting some rest!
We've had a cold here lately, so I know the joy of being sick while having sick kiddos. This too shall pass. Take care of yourself and that wee one you're about to meet!
Hugs! :-) You inspire me even when you are 9 mos. pregnant and sick. Praying you feel better soon, Tristan!
