Kicking the Camel Out of My Tent

You probably wouldn’t guess it, but life with 7 children is a tad bit busy.  Between daily living(cooking, cleaning, laundry, more cooking, more cleaning, more laundry), homeschooling the children, Mason’s medical appointments each week, and a husband who has been working a stinky schedule that has him home and awake all of 30-60 minutes each evening before he heads to bed at 7pm to start it all over again at 1am, something needs to give for me.
It’s not really that hard to decide what needs to go.  The internet has a way of taking more time than I plan to give it.  Reminds me of the story where you let a camel’s nose in the tent during a sandstorm and before long he’s shoved all the way in and you’re the one out in the sandstorm.
So here’s my plan:
  • I’ll be checking my email once in the middle of the night when I’m up feeding Mason.  I do it from my Ipod while still in bed, so it’s super quick and easy.
  • The only other time I’ll get online for a while is to post Mason updates on his blog after doctor’s appointments.
  • Oh, and there are a few random posts scheduled to pop up here.
I’m turning off my computer tonight after I print out things for the next 2 weeks of homeschool.  And I just may toss a blanket over the whole computer desk so it’s not staring at me!
There are only 24 hours in a day.  If you figure out a way to get more hours in the day send me an email – I could use some more time.

Good for you. I've been thinking about this a lot too - the internet DOES take up a lot of time. I'm slowly working on getting my time down to a minimum....best of luck to you!

Love that story, but I can't remember where we read it. :) I sometimes think I need to get off the phone..it takes too much of my time.

I'll miss your posts...but I understand! I have also been thinking that I need to make some changes with the amount of time I spend on the computer.

Wow, I think I may get the courage to do the same thing. At least for a week or two. My poor house needs spring cleaning badly. Have a great time off; but I do hope to see you continue with posts because I enjoy reading them.

Good for you!! We will miss you, but will know how you are generally from Mason's blog. Stay with this resolve.

I agree, so I'll keep this comment short and to the point..so as to not "steal" more of you time...LOL

When our family jumped up with 4 foster kids - I had very little time for the computer! Just now reading blogs again. We love ya - Just check in every once in a while! -

I'm laughing my butt off! So absolutely cute, Tristan! I will miss you but totally relate. If you find a way for more hours, let me know. I could use a few more myself. If there is something that I can do to be helpful, please let me know! I don't mind putting a few of my things on hold if need be.

good for you Tristan. I'll miss your inspiration but perhaps when I'm life wasting I'll think of you and stop.
