Here is how it will work. I will add books under a few headings. First will be books I plan to read. This section will be helpful for me to keep track of books that I want to read sometime in 2013. Then comes a list of books I am currently reading. You'll find I'm a multi-book reader. I have several things going at once. These may take me a few days or they may take months, depending on how often I am in the mood to read each book. Books will be moved to the Finished Reading section once I'm done. I will try to update this at least weekly.

What did you think about Cleaning House? It's been on my maybe list for a while?
My 11 year old daughter and I decided to read as many of the books being talked about for the 2013 Newbery that we could (and that I felt were appropriate). We have read some good ones, and a few that either she or I didn't really like. My three personal favorites were "Breathing Room" by Marsha Hayles (about a girl in a TB sanitarium in 1940); "Yesterday's Dead" by Pat Bourke (about the Spanish Flu outbreak in 1918, in Toronto); and "The Lions of Little Rock" by Kristin Levine (about two girls during the 1958 Civil Rights beginnings in Little Rock). As you can tell, I too love historical fiction. I also love books that I can hand over to my 11 year old. I have read some interesting books for adults, but I find that language is often an issue.
I look forward to seeing what you read.
Hi Tristan. I love to read as well! Some of the books I have read last year are The Kauffman Amish Bakery Series by Amy Clipston, The Songs Of Alaska series by Tracie Peterson, and just about Anything by Karen Kingsbury. I have a few of these if you would like to borrow or maybe we could swap some books. Hope all is well in your household, Sister James
I'm so impressed with all that you read! I am also reading multiple books right now, but not finishing them very fast. I'm halfway through Unbroken by Hillanbrand, Large Family Logistics, Revealed Educational Principles and the Public Schools by Monnett, plus all the reading for young women's lessons. Reading Snow Treasures and Pippi Longstocking to the kids. Just finished Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh, Palace of Stone, and I Capture the Castle. Next up are Act in Doctrine by Bednar, God Family Country by Benson and Five Children and It. Thanks for sharing!
Large Family Logistics is one of my favorite books....enjoy!
It is always great to read a home school blog addressing books. I am especially interested in finding out what fiction books about home schoolers are the favorites of other home schoolers or if there are home schoolers interested in writing fiction books about home schooling. I don't think there are enough books in this category even though many home schoolers would welcome more fiction books where the home schoolers are the main characters.
Hey! Just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for a Spread Smiles Award since I can't help but smile then I read your blog. I love your perspective on life (love the 2 Nephi scripture on the sidebar). Here's the link to my post about the award: http://squareheadteachers.com/2013/04/22/spread-smiles-award/
Best wishes!
